Your questions, answered.
What is boiler cover?
Our boiler cover gives you peace of mind that a Gas Safe registered engineer is only a phone call away if you find yourself without heating or hot water. Our basic plan cover your boiler in case of breakdown, while our more comprehensive plans add your central heating, plumbing, drainage and electrics. You can also choose between a range of excess levels to ensure that you pick the right plan for you.
Do I need boiler cover?
Boiler cover is important if you want the comfort of knowing that an engineer will be on hand if any problems occur with your heating or hot water. Plus Heat’s emergency helpline is open 24 hours a day and our engineers will often be with you the same day that you have a problem. Customers will often choose the safety of a boiler cover plan to guard against unexpected bills and the risk of being without heating and hot water for days, or even weeks.
Do you offer boiler cover for landlords?
Plus Heat’s landlord boiler cover includes the production of a CP12 certificate that is a legal requirement for a landlord as part of maintaining a Gas Safety Record.
Can I get cover for an old boiler?
Many providers do not cover old heating systems, but at Plus Heat the age of your boiler will not effect the cover that we offer you.
Do I need an annual boiler service?
An annual boiler service is really important if you want your boiler to continue operating safely and efficiently. An inefficient boiler will burn more gas that it should and cost you higher energy bills, so an annual service can actually save you money. If your boiler is still under warranty, many will require you to have your boiler services each year in order to keep the warranty valid.
How much does an annual boiler service cost?
The cost of an annual boiler service will depend upon the type of boiler, but will typically be between £80 - £100. The service will typically take between 30 minutes and an hour.
Do I need to get my boiler serviced annually?
Yes. An annual service will keep your boiler in good working condition and limit wear and tear. If your boiler is new and still under warranty an annual service will probably also be a condition of maintaining the warranty.
What is an annual boiler service?
An annual boiler service is a set of checks that a Gas Safe registered engineer should carry out every year to ensure that your boiler is running smoothly and efficiently. The engineer will follow a thorough boiler service checklist to ensure the safety and efficiency of the boiler.
Is it worth getting your boiler serviced?
The simple answer is yes. A boiler service delivers two important benefits, safety and efficiency. A gas boiler service will identify any safety concerns and also improve the efficiency of your boiler, which will save you money in the long-term.
What happens if I don’t service my boiler?
A gas boiler service will help an engineer identify any potential issues before they get worse. Not having your boiler serviced means that these issues are not addressed early and may lead to a breakdown at the worst possible time. Even if your boiler doesn’t breakdown, it will become less efficient, consuming more gas and costing you money on your energy bill.
What happens if you miss a boiler service?
If you have missed your annual boiler service your warranty may have lapsed, but all is not lost. Manufacturers will often allow you to catch-up if the service gap has not been too long. Often it is possible for a Gas Safe engineer to back-date a service, provided that certain conditions are met.
